About Judy Malings
Judy Malings has been a vocalist and professional entertainer for over thirty years, and a singing teacher and vocal coach for most of that time as well.
A former cast member of America’s longest running musical revue, “Beach Blanket Babylon”, Judy has performed in nightclubs, cabarets, corporate and private events and galas, festivals and concerts in San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Houston.
Most recently Judy was the lead vocalist for the San Diego based 8 piece show band “The Fabulous Ultratones” for over 10 years, performing an average of 60 gigs a year in Southern California and Arizona.
Judy studied voice with the late Roland Wyatt, the vocal coach for Manhattan Transfer, and most recently with Master Teachers Jeffrey Skousen and Guy Babusek where she trained for her pre-certification in the Speech Level Singing method. She has taught students of all levels and ages from absolute beginners to Broadway veterans and recording artists as well as contestants from “American Idol”, “The Voice” and “X-Factor”.
As a songwriter, Judy’s songs have been published in Nashville, and featured on the “Top 10 R&B Chart” for the peer-review independent music site “Broadjam”.
Judy wrote and co-directed the Broadway revues “But Mama, I don’t want to be in Show Business” and “Broadway 101”, both produced by Rising Stars Youth Theatre in San Diego and performed at the Lyceum Theatre in San Diego
Judy has implemented , directed and choreographed over a dozen “Glee Workshops” and “Glee Camps” for kids. These workshops concentrated on Group Singing through “Show Choirs” .
Judy specializes in training pop singers and focuses her coaching on contemporary commercial styles. In her personalized lessons Judy works with students on strengthening their vocal instruments, improving vocal range and resonance, as well as song interpretation , stage presence, mic technique and more.
Judy works with students of all levels from age 11 and up.
